African philanthropy is a widely discussed topic and there are several important philanthropists who are instrumental in making a change. As per the scene of philanthropy in Africa, around 7 billion have been used for philanthropy work. Here are the few important philanthropists found in Africa. Jim Ovia Ovia is the founder of Zenith bank and has donated around 6.4 million to Nigerian flood relief in 2012.The Jim Ovia foundation invests in promoting information and technology education among youth. Tony Elumelu Tony is an entrepreneur and an economist. His Tony Elumelu Foundation focuses on empowerment of African entrepreneurs, leadership promotion, and creation of an entrepreneurial ecosystem. Akon Rapper Akon's project is called as Akon Lighting Africa in 2014. He understood that several people are living without electricity in Africa. His initiative is all set to bring power to the whole of Africa. Didier Drogba This foundation was found out by the famous footballer Didier Drogba. This tries to provide health care and education to the underprivileged in Ivory Coast and other regions. Danjuma Danjuma is the chairman of South Atlantic Petroleum. In 2008 he donated around 100 million dollars to create Danjuma foundation. It brings quality health care and equal opportunities and education to the Nigerians.
